First impression lasts, they say. But this doesn’t apply to all and always.
Sir Glen. He was often out but it was in his class that I first experienced taking exams four seats apart.
Sir Mendoza. Good and serious in teaching but will suddenly throw joke that everybody really buys.
Ma’am Santos. No meeting that she did not encourage us to try to speak in English. I always shrink in her class because of the rule to always speak in English but then that had built my confidence.
“Introduce yourself”. ‘Why IT?”. I answered these questions nervously and 9 times! 9 times because freshmen have nine subjects. I really did not want to become an IT professional. I wanted to be a policeman and enroll in Araullo University but due to financial problems I grabbed the scholarship grant offered by the Municipal Government of Talavera.
Paul, Louie, Kit, and Ronny. These guys were my first “barkada” since they were also my ‘cheatmates”. LOL. They were the one of the reasons the awkward feeling left me. We also click because we all love playing basketball.
I took the college entrance exam late. How can I forget that? I even needed to be assisted by the school administrator to NEUST Gen. Tinio so that the DSA will still consider me to take the exam even if I was already 4 days late. I will never forget that kindness of Ma’am Mangalili and of course, NEUST, for still considering me.
My Firsts
Every beginning is a step of faith to nowhere. The journey may not count to some because they believe it’s the destination that matters but for me, every single detail of the walk through life matters. I am King Edward and these are my firsts.
